Greek Mythology Sculptures

Ancient Greek mythology is a recurring source of subjects and symbols in Sergei Oganov’s sculpture. Icarus, Odysseus, Theseus, Perseus, and other mythological figures appear not as historical reconstructions, but as characters through which the artist explores contemporary human experience.

The familiar myths become starting points for works about freedom and risk, loss and return, courage, transformation, maturity, and the consequences of personal choice.

Created primarily as figurative bronze sculptures, these works retain recognizable mythological references while moving away from classical idealization. Oganov focuses instead on the psychological state of the individual figure and on what an ancient story can still communicate today.

This selection brings together sculptures inspired by Greek mythology and allows the recurring themes, characters, and visual language of this part of Oganov’s work to be seen as a connected body of work.
