Odysseus
More
Odysseus is a figurative bronze sculpture centered on a nude male figure. The second title of the work is The Return. Created during a difficult period for the artist, the sculpture reflects on maturity and the reassessment of experience. The image of Odysseus becomes a way of thinking about the path toward victory and the making of a hero — a journey in which one may have to suffer shipwreck more than once. Here, loss is not necessarily punishment. It can also become liberation, and returning can mean seeing both the journey and oneself differently.
