Daedalus and Icarus

Sergei Oganov // Minsk, Belarus // Easel sculpture // Bronze, steel // 19.7 × 17.7 × 8.7 in // 2020 // 26.5 lb

Father and son, joined by wings. Daedalus's weary gaze is directed downward, toward the earth. Icarus looks upward, toward the sun. A child's wing and an adult's wing symbolize continuity that always demands sacrifice. A contrast between youth and experience, hope and outcome.
