Odysseus
More
This work has an alternative title: The Return. There is no need to retell the well-known myth of Odysseus and his long journey home from war. The sculpture was created in 2022—a turbulent year for the artist, marked by deep introspection and a reckoning with past events. This sculpture is a meditation on maturity – on the hard-won understanding that the path to victory, to becoming a hero, is paved with repeated shipwrecks. That often, loss liberates rather than punishes us. The Return here symbolizes the embodiment of reverting to one's default settings. The viewer must decide for themselves which state of the main character they are witnessing – serene acceptance or apathetic despair.
