Vortex of Trauma

Vortex of Trauma is a figurative sculpture in bronze and steel about the inner conflict between mindfulness and chaos, where spiritual practice collides with primal fear. A boy meditates above an abyss. Can one truly remain calm at its edge, or is meditation only an elegant pose before the fall? The work becomes a visualization of pain, fear, and the attempt to find an anchor of calm amid internal disorder. At the bottom of the funnel is a skull — an image of what remains hidden in the depths, but also, like Adam's head in Christian tradition, a symbol of ancestors and connection to one's roots. In this way, fear can also become hope.
