This is a visualization of the inner battle between awareness and chaos, where spiritual practices collide with primal fear. Can one truly meditate at the edge of the abyss – or is it just a graceful pose before the fall? “I must remain calm, despite the chaos within.” This work is the artist’s sublimation (a transmutation of pain into art). It is an acknowledgment of one’s fears, an attempt to visualize them and create an anchor of serenity in the form of a boy meditating on the precipice. The skull at the bottom of the vortex embodies these terrors, yet, like Adam’s head in Christian tradition, it also symbolizes our ancestors – a connection to our roots. And so, fear may yet transform into hope.
