Nomad is a bronze and steel sculpture centered on the unity of a nomadic warrior and his horse. The early 13th century saw the Mongol Empire’s vast conquests and the sweeping changes that also reached Eastern Europe. The force behind this expansion lay not in new machinery or weapons, but in the mounted warrior. Oganov removes attributes such as the sword and bow to retain a single image of power, movement, and the horseman as a unified whole.
